Steven Gregory Downes
'Steve' Downes is currently (as at December 2016) a partner of LeeP Financial, 1 Ramsey Court,  Hinchingbrooke Business Park, Huntingdon PE29 6EF. They also have offices at Peterborough. LeeP's telephone number is 01733 699033.

'Steve' is somewhat ironically described as a 'recovery specialist who can implement appropriate recovery actions wherever necessary.' Never a truer word. 1. You might be interested in the history of what was supposed to be a short build of an extension in Cambridge managed by Inspire Build (Teamview when originally employed). A 14 week plan of work ultimately took 66 weeks, a full year overrun and there was still some work outstanding. For a relatively small extension!

For a blow by blow account go to the link below. The diary makes particularly enlightening reading.

  2. Do not go near this company! They are liars use cheap materials and don't pay the contractors, I am yet to get paid for works I completed for, them along with several, other on the same job!

  3. I worked for this company in the latter part of 2012 and early 2013. They did not pay me the £2500 that they owed me. Steve Downes kept pleading cash flow problems and several other contractors were also unpaid. After 4 months of false promises I took them to court and obtained a CCJ against them for the whole amount plus costs. Despite the bailiffs investigating I have still not received a penny for the materials and my labour. DON'T TOUCH this company with a barge pole!! They keep doing the same thing over and over again and making themselves a fortune at the expense of honest workmen. It should be illegal for them to start up yet another company. I have written to Watchdog about them as a company worth investigating.

  4. We used this bunch of charlatans to build us an extension last year. They took a sizeable deposit from us in instalments.Whilst they were getting these instalments work progressed to a point. Once the installments (far in excess of the work completed) were paid the people on site whittled down to one person. We then had a council inspection who found multiple faults with the work and we had to employ another company to rebuild it. We took them to court and won, they didn't even turn up and haven't paid a penny. We are thousands of pounds out of pocket. We found the same thing.. they get a load of CCJs for non payment or non completion of work, close the company and then set up again. May they rot in hell. How on earth they have got away with this for so long I have no idea. Can't someone refer them to Rogue Builders..I'm going to as well.

    1. Keeping an eye on their background profiles to see if anything new. All quiet at present. They've certainly upped sticks and left their business premises in St Ives. If anyone hears anything new, please post a comment here. Regards.

  7. Steven Downes is a director and company secretary of Inspire CityFit - I thought if you had a CCJ against you it debarred you from becoming a company director

  8. These men took my electrical business for £60K 5 years ago and destroyed it, we could not recover and we are only just getting our lives back together now. Bastards!!

We have so much dirt on them it is unreal including a nice chronology of winding one business down whilst starting another to take over. Authorities are not interested though so they will do it again.

Well done for putting this site together!

  9. I've heard that Dave Allen is now working for a firm called Shermans in London. Seems to be getting a reputation for being a bit of a pain in the arse and being very difficult to work with.....

    2. Really appreciate the update. The web site has been updated to include the promotional photo of 'Steve' from the Leep Finance web site. We've also emailed Leep to ask if 'Steve' is the kind of partner that reflects well on the business and giving them a link to this web site.

Somewhat ironic he describes himself as a 'recovery specialist'. Never a truer word!

  11. Worked for these clowns 10yrs ago when they ran a large regional construction company. Got as much cash out of the business as possible then made 50 or so people redundant. Dodgy deals, contacts in Local Authority procurement, funny handshakes, etc etc. Surprised the OFT never got involved considering most of the contracts awarded were paid out of public money.

    1. That's why we need to keep an eye on them. Leopards never change their spots, and they're going to be at it again if they can!

    2. Defo need to keep tabs on them. I search their names every now and again but nothing new comes up. I can't imagine Steve Downes working for someone else...they can't just disappear.

  12. I have only just been made aware of this website, whilst I agree with everything said from what I have heard, but can all people reading this website make a note that Aragon Homes Ltd and Russell Dean Holdings Ltd have not been associated with nor had contact with Mr Downes since October 2003. I am sure it will not take much delving for people to learn that I have been running Aragon Homes Ltd very diligently since splitting from Steve Downes and hope that I have earnt respect from many subcontractors and suppliers since then as I continue to carry out lots of successful work in the local area. Perhaps someone would kindly amend the details at the top of the page.
